  • Edit ID3Tag data

Cons

  • No support for multiple splices at once

My MP3 Splitter provides a free and simple MP3 cutting solution.

If you need a simple, fast and reliable way to splice MP3 files, then My MP3 Splitter is an excellent option. It can splice all types of MP3 files and create new MP3s of all sizes, so the program is perfect whether you’re creating a ringtone or splicing out sections of a long podcast.

To load an MP3, simply click the Open button and choose a file. There’s no support for drag and drop, however. The program will display details about the opened file, such as sample rate, channels and file size. You can also click on the ID3Tags tab to edit meta information. Any changes made here will be reflected in any new file that you create.

To create a start point, move the left knob to the appropriate point and click Mark Start. To create an end point, move the right knob to the appropriate point and click Mark End. There’s also a built-in MP3 player with basic options, such as Play from Start, Play from Current or Stop. When you’re ready to extract the slice and create the new file, click Save As and provide a destination path.

Note that My MP3 Splitter doesn’t support music file formats other than MP3. It also doesn’t support conversion, and you can’t even lower quality in order to reduce file size. Also, meta information can’t be changed on an existing file. You could, however, change the ID3Tag, leave the start and end point as is and then save the entire MP3 file as a new MP3.

Perhaps the biggest issue with My MP3 Splitter is that it doesn’t support creating multiple splices at the same time. If you want to create two or more splices from the same file, then you have to perform two or more jobs. It’s also important to note that My MP3 Splitter is very simple and straightforward. That may not necessarily be a bad thing, and some MP3 splicers are far too complex for casual use. Nevertheless, if you want a sophisticated MP3 editing tool, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
